The school offers a wide range of one day shorebased courses following the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) modules for each level of ability. Our courses have a relaxed and friendly but professional learning environment with a maximum of 6-8 students in a class. We try to add as much enjoyment as you can fit in to your time with us. With some of these courses can be tailor-made to suit your own individual/groups needs please contact the school for more infomation. The school is involved in training many professional organisations including the local harbour Commissioners Rescue Services and many local business working on and off the water. With our wide range of shorebaced course you will find them helping you when you are out on the water sailing.

It is a legal requirement and worth while to have a personal licence, if you are going out on the water and have a VHF radio. On this course you will be using and talking about the latest in fix and handheld VHF (Very High Frequency) and DSC (Digital Selective Calling) radios units. You will learn about the correct channel usage; the correct Safety, Urgent and Distress procedures to use and what is meant by GMDSS (Global Marine Distress and Safety System) and how it can help you out on the water. On completion of this course, you will be awarded your Licence, which will allow you legally operate VHF/DSC radios.

this is a must for all who use the water, because when you are out on the water you might be the vital link to help someone until professional help can get to you, or it could be you someday.
The course will go through the a basic injuries and illness of first aid, such as headaches, sun-burn, cuts and grazes and progress on to dealing with emergences situations that you'd find out at sea , concentrating on recantation (CPR). You will also learn about first care on victims who have been a man overboard. This is a very good course and worth while taking the time in doing.

This is the full Health and Safety Executives (HSE) course designed for commercial use. We run the course over 4 days and each course can be tailored to your particular work place.
On this course you will learn about the legal obligations and responsibilityís of a workplace for HSE standards how to record and report hazards and injuries, dealing with an emergency, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Wounds & Bleeding, Unconsciousness, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Strokes, Heart Attacks, Asthma, Shock, Poisons, Burns and Fractures.

This course will give you the skill to be able to perform basic maintenance on a marine diesel engine of which donít need a professional mechanic it is a fact that the most common call out for the RNLI lifeboat is for mechanical failure so it is very importance to keep you engine in good working order to prevent you from being one of those people.

This course is for those of you who have an outboard and would like to know more about it. You will learn about the main parts of an outboard engine, how to do basic maintenance and prolong the life of you engine of which donít require a professional mechanic. You will all so learn how to and winterise an engine.
If you have an outboard engine it is a very worth while course to do.

This intensive day course will give you the Knowledge and skills to survive in the waters or in a liferaft until help can reach you. You will learn how to get in to a liferaft from a boat and from the water , what equipment to find in a liferaft when you are in it and there will be an invaluable session in a swimming pool for you to try out the different skill you have been told about, also you can find what it could be like swimming and manovering in the water with you equipment on.
