We are a friendly, long-established sailing and powerboat school and chartering company located in one of the largest and most beautiful natural working harbours in the world. Situated off the Fal Estuary, in the heart of the historical maritime town of Falmouth.
The local waters provide one of the most versatile and picturesque locations for Watersports in Europe.
Falmouth School of Sailing is an independent, fully recognised Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training centre, also licensed by Adventure Activates Licensing Authority (AALA).
RYA MCA Training: We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced courses in Powerboating, Keelboat and Dinghy-sailing. We also work with another RYA training school Trysail to offer both theory and practical based courses from RYA Day Skipper through to RYA Yachtmaster Ocean in Sail and Motor.
We offer other specialist courses in MCA VHF/GMDSS, RYA Sea Survival, HSE first aid, one and three day courses and more.
Our courses range from half day taster sessions through to intensive 2-6 day courses for all age ranges.
We are equipped with a wide range of dinghies, powerboats, keelboats and yachts. We are happy to tailor the courses to cater for your needs. Due to the milder winter climates of Cornwall we are able to offer courses all year round.
Charter.
The school offers a variety of boats for charter, ranging from Skippered Charters on a 43ft morgan giles classic sailing yacht to bare boat charters on vessels ranging from 19ft to 46ft and all of our smaller dinghies. The Avon Adventure
This fantastic boat has joined our fleet of boats for you to train in and charter from us.
She has very good sea handling and has been know to leave many a boat behind in her wake in heavy seas with her solid and well built hull.
Finding The Ropes
The ‘Finding the Ropes’ project is aimed at providing education resulting in recognised qualifications and personal development to young people who may beat risk of disengaging with formal education or employment and encouraging their re-engagement with the learning process. It is a fully funded course for young people meeting the necessary criteria for eligibility.
